Goals of the program: To promote the positive development
of children.
Objectives of the Program: To provide parents with
the necessary tools to increase their knowledge of child
development, and to develop positive parenting strategies
and parenting skills.
The Parent Education Program is our parent education program
for low income parents. We provide the necessary tools to
increase their knowledge of child development, and to develop
positive parenting strategies and parenting skills using
the Health Realization concept as a teaching tool. Activities
for this parent program include the following parenting
strategies, and skills: how to recognize their own state
of mind and moods in order to help their children use appropriate
behavior, how to help their children resolve their differences
peacefully, how to teach their children to recognize the
warning signs of anger, how to communicate effectively,
how to use effective discipline strategies, and learn the
warning signs of stress and how stress can have a negative
effect on a family’s effect health and happiness.
The Health Realization Model parenting classes offer a
fun, non-threatening way for parent to become aware of learned
habits, beliefs and behaviors that may actually not be working
for them. Next come a moment - to - moment awareness of
our levels of psychological functioning (moods) and how
those moods affect our perspective, outlook and decision/choice
making process. We use a range of educational methods, such
as lecture, group discussions, videos, and skill-building
activities to deliver this common sense understanding. The
parent educators are qualified Health Realization Model
trainers and have received training in child and adult development,
family dynamics, and group facilitation.
