About FOH
Mission Statement: The organization's mission
is to partner with public and private organizations
to provide programs designed to promote the well-being,
and overall improved quality of life for individuals,
families, and communities. This is accomplished by providing
education and skill development activities that empower
people with the knowledge and tools to change negative
behaviors and circumstances.
History and Background: Family of Humanity, Inc. is
a nonprofit community based 501 ©(3) tax-exempt
organization that was founded by Jolene M. Parrish in
1997. The organization's headquarters are located in
Hollywood, FL.
The vision to start a nonprofit organization evolved
in 1997 when the organization was introduced to a principle-based
wellness model called the Health Realization Model.
Since then, Family of Humanity has used this model to
facilitate education and skill development activities
to over 2,000 participants by contracting out to other
organizations that provide prevention/intervention programs
to participants dealing with various problems such as,
addictions, conflict, homelessness, poverty, violence,
and other negative behaviors and situations. The organization
chose to continue using the Health Realization Model
in all programs and services after recognizing how quickly
participants were able to make positive changes. In
a short three-month period of program completion, outcomes
showed participants were making good decisions, enjoying
life, happy; motivated, and productive. This model is
currently in the process of being evaluated by the Substance
Abuse Mental Health Services Administration, (SAMHSA)
National Registry of Effective Programs.
Family of Humanity was recognized as a tax-exempt
organization in October, 2003. This status has enabled
the organization to develop and provide effective
outcome programs at no charge to over 500 low income
children, teens and adults.
Scope/ Target Audience: The scope of Family
of Humanity targets each segment of the family in Broward
County namely children, teenagers and parents.
Goal: To promote the well-being and improved quality
of life for individuals, families, and communities.
Program Locations: The programs take place in various
facilities located in Broward County.
